What is so important about design?

You notice bad design, you don't notice mediocre design and great design has impact.

Recent statistics indicate that web surfer visitor forms an opinion of a website in about 7 seconds. In 7 seconds they elect to stay and browse or move on to your competitor. With this in mind it is important to have a site that downloads quickly, and is aesthetically pleasing.

To keep the visitor on your site you need to tell them right away who you are and what is on your site. Web surfers don't have time to play hide and seek. To this end, good navigation is important to direct your customers through your site.

What about Graphics?

What is your market? Are you a rural product or service provider? If so, consider the bandwidth of the people accessing your site, many remote areas are unable to access pages with large sized graphics files on them, due to the low bandwidth of their connections. If this is the case, you may need to have a text only option on your site.

In metropolitan areas, bandwidth is usually not an issue, and you can confidently decide on a site which has some graphics.
